Within the framework of her visit, Virginia Bassi, American doctor of clinical psychology met with main freelance expert in children’s psychiatry of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Igor Martsinkovskiy, and main children’s psychiatrist of Kiev Yana Bikshaeva.
This meeting was organized due to Dr.Bassi’s interest to the situation in psychiatry in Ukraine. Dr.Bassi saw the “inner kitchen” of Ukrainian psychiatry: features of the branch, structure as well as the legislation in this sphere.
During the meeting Virginia Bassi shared her opinion about positive progress and achieved goals of the children in kindergarten “Child with future”, where she carried out trainings for the teachers as well as consulted the kids. Igor Martsinkovskiy and Yana Bikshaeva agreed with the opinion of the doctor as far as a lot of children are their patients.
“I am very glad that there are specialists in Ukraine who can promote and stand for the interests of autists on professional level,- says Dr.Bassi. – Of course there is still a lot of work to do, but I see that during past two years there was a big progress in diagnosing and rehabilitation of autistic kids”.
