The speakers emphasized that autistic people try to control everything because the world is too chaotic for them, and has no discernable rules. Therefore, if you explain how things function around them, the need to keep everything under control will decrease.
Also, being able to trust adults and communicate with them helps autistic children cope with the chaos of the world around them. If the child knows that by telling someone about a problem helps solve it faster, they will do it. It is easier to put it under the control of another person in this case.
